Rich Y's Writings
Congratulations! You have reached the homepage of Rich Y (Richard B Young). Here you can find some of my songs, poems and short stories.
I am now 80 years young and have been writing, in one form or another since my teenage years. I do not restrict myself to one type of work; when there is so much food and drink to enjoy, why eat only burgers and drink only milk?
Musically, my tastes range from Country and Western to Hard Rock/Heavy Metal and much in-between. My Niece, Hannah, who is much younger, recently introduced me to the delights of Suno.com, a music creation AI site - and I have been busy ever since!
Take a look at my 'Songs and Music' tab and see what I have produced so far. You may be surprised!
The site is still a work in progress, so if you like anything you hear or read, why not keep checking to see what's new. Pam and I recently celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary and as it is the second marriage for both of us, and I have felt able to express myself musically now with the help of Suno, I wanted to write a song for her. The result is 'Love at First Sight (For Pam)', in the 'Romantic Ballads' section of this site.
I have one very important request; to the best of my knowledge, everything you will find on this site was written or designed by me, but with music in particular, there is so much already out there that it is easy to unknowingly produce a copy of an existing item. With this in mind, if you see or hear anything to which you believe someone else holds the copyright, PLEASE TELL ME SO THAT I CAN REMOVE IT! Thank you.
Thanks for visiting!
PS: I have a slightly 'off-the-wall' sense of humour. Try this one and you'll see what I mean! It needs a word of introduction/explanation; many years ago, my wife and I had a long weekend break over in Cheshire. We don't like the M62, so we decided to drive back across country and arrived in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, about 5:30pm.
We looked for somewhere to eat, and found a pub which advertised food. You may have seen a Western movie in which a stranger rides into town, ties his horse to the hitching rail and walks up the steps to the saloon. There are sounds coming from inside - glasses clinking, people talking, a woman singing in a not very good voice and an overstrung piano playing. He pushes open the doors and walks in - and immediately all sounds stop and every eye turns to him.
This was more or less our experience; admittedly there were only half a dozen, but they did all stop talking and look at us as though we were from another planet. We weren't put off; we marched up to the bar and asked the barmaid if we could get something to eat. She looked at us in amazement and said, "Food? It's Monday!" in a tone which clearly implied that no-one ate out in Holmfirth on a Monday, so we left.
We eventually, much to our amazement, found, not just one, but two tapas bars and had a meal in one.
It was the unlikely combination of these two things which was the inspiration, if that's the right term for something so silly, for this song.
